Thinking of becoming a windsurfing instructor

The ISA Go windsurfing scheme is one of the most comprehensive and well thought out training schemes. The scheme is based around "student centred training", meaning that instructors are trained to develop students using a number of teaching techniques and by understanding how the student learns best. The ISA instructor will find a way to move the student to the next level as quickly and painlessly as possible.
Instructor prerequisites to be completed before attending an instructor course
Before attending an ISA Go Windsurfing instructor course trainees must complete the following:
- Must have all the modules of the Get up and Go and Go for it sections of the scheme signed off
- Be at least 16 years of age
- Hold a powerboat level 2 certificate
- Hold a valid first aid certificate
ISA Instructor trainers

Instructor courses are run by ISA appointed windsurfing trainers, all the ISA trainers have participated on the NCTC (now Coaching Ireland) tutor training course and have undertaking specific training to develop instructors and coaches.
Instructor courses

GO WINDSURFING INSTRUCTOR COURSE: This is the entry course to becoming an instructor. The course runs for six days and consists of training both onshore and on the water. The course is based very much around a facilitation style of learning. Trainers find interactive ways of getting information from trainees and encouraging trainees to challenge themselves by adapting different styles of teaching to changing situations. This makes each course unique, and more memorable to trainees when they take on students.
Some of the areas covered in detail - Teaching techniques - Working with children - Creating a learning experience for all - Fitness - Presentation techniques - Safety
GO WITH STYLE INSTRUCTOR COURSE: This course is the ISA advanced instructor training course. Students must be qualified Go Windsurfing instructors with teaching experience. Students will be expected to have the skills and knowledge to present and run sessions on Carve Gybing, Planing tacks, Waterstarting and Coastal windsurfing which involves sailing in small waves.
GO WITH STYLE ENDORSEMENTS: If you have a Go With Style instructor qualification you can endorse your qualification with the following: Freestyle, Jumps and Wavesailing.
