Keel Lake

Keel lake is the ideal location for learning to windsurf. Most windsurfers that have sailed the lake will agree that you couldn't find a more perfect set up for learning. Whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced windsurfer the lake provides a perfect learning environment.
The lake has both a shallow and deep section. The shallow area creates a safe area for learning and allows instructors to walk around with students. Beginners have the confidence to learn more as falling off your board means just standing up and starting again.

Intermediate windsurfers learning skills such as waterstarting and planing find the lake perfect. The lake remains flat even in the strongest of winds, excellent for learning to carve gybe. Because of the flat conditions the lake is a perfect learning ground for freestyle maneuvers. Basically the lake has something to offer every level of windsurfer.
Weather conditions on the lake are generally dictated by the local depressions but during the summer months when we get Northwesterly winds and warm days we get excellent planing conditions on the lake. The prevailing wind adds to a wind which falls of the mountain north of the lake to produce winds ranging from force 5 - 7 between 11am and 7pm. You will regularly get planing conditions here when there is no wind anywhere else to be found.
