Achill Islands North Shore
There are a number of North facing beaches on Achill Island. Three of the beaches are in Dugort. Golden strand beach and Silver strand beach face Northerly and are good for bump and jump conditions. Another one of the beach's we call the secret beach as there is no access by car, you must sail around to it or take a long walk with your kit. This beach faces Westerly and has great potential if you get it on the right day.

Another one of the less known beaches is Dooniver beach. This beach works in North winds and Southeasterly winds and provides good bump and jump conditions and freestyle conditions

The reef system on the North shore stretches for miles with some heavy fast reefs facing the West and some long wave rides on one of the reefs which faces Northeast. Westerly winds here produces excellent down the line port tack wavesailing.
Due to the sensitive nature of some of the local surfers we won't be giving away the names and locations of some of the reefs, but if your sailing around Achill ask some of the local windsurfers and you might just catch one of these locations working. Generally if Keel beach is to big to sail one of these locations will usually be working.
